Well, we woke up today to some brilliant snow. As it's nearing the winter equinox, the sun did seem to take it's time to rise but it was definitely worth it!! Luckily our fields have a reasonable slope so the sledge, having sat redundant in the garage all year, came in to it's own. Cuppa tea and some chocolates afterwards... lovely!!

Well, summer has now gone and we are preparing for winter. We have at least two hedgehogs who nest in the garden; we've seen them many times through the year on our night-time wildlife camera and various guests have spotted 'the big one' trundling through the garden at dusk John has just made a cosy house from logs and slates in the bottom garden close to where one nested last year so hopefully it...

After missing out on taking any photos of any wildlife recently - camera never to hand - I just managed to catch this as it sat basking in the evening sunshine. We've been out today looking for a site for our owl box. It looks as if there's a precarious jaunt up a ladder for John in the near future but I'll make sure I have the camera to hand for that one...

Since we moved in, there have been reports of a Golden Eagle, named Eddie, of course, who lives nearby.    After a recent guest spotting him, our efforts to see him have doubled - binoculars trained on the hills opposite the house whenever there's a bit of sunshine.
